Cartagena has the most beautiful streets. Walking by it’s downtown is entering to a time where everything was simple and it was full of colors, balconies and flowers. To a time where the romance existed and the Florentino Ariza swore eternal love. Yes, walking by Cartagena’s downtown is walking on a dream, venture through its streets and think about the words of the great Gabo while you do it. If it is beautiful now, I can not imagine as it was years ago. When everything was simpler but with more strenght. Anybody could be happy in it.
Cartagena is a city that you must go at least once in your life. If you go for the beach you’ll be disappointed, if you go for its walled city you’ll be wanting to stay there forever. That part is, without doubt, the most beautiful of all.
I liked it a lot. Their houses all painted in different colors with flowers on top and a huge front door. I loved the small gardens every few blocks that invites you to write. There you hear music and see art. Yes, the walled city is a necessary break from this world to one more cute and also to the past. The people are cheerful and greets you while you pass by, and, if you are lucky they stop to chat with you.
You can smell the handmade caramel and taste the fruit juice. Wooden balconies are infinite and in them there are plants of all types and even more colors. I liked the feeling it gave me, about being somewhere else, inside an scaled model city made with the imagination of a romantic being.
